An external field will induce an electric field within our bodies. This is traditional lead shielding which will block X-rays, Alpha and Beta Particles for the ends of fluorescent tubes, radium glowing watch dials, radioactive smoke detectors, labels for x-ray sensitive film, and all sorts of shielding applications. Electrically conductive, it cuts and bends easily (even conforms to curved surfaces). Peel-off liner exposes 1-mil acrylic adhesive. Foil is 4 mil thick and 1 inch wide. Temperature range: -30° to +325°F.
ALUMINUM FOIL TAPE Scotch Foil Tape 3311 is 2 mil thick aluminum alloy foil with a pressure-sensitive synthetic rubber adhesive and paper liner. For those of you who experience (or want to prevent) ES symptoms in your hands when using a computer keyboard, laptop, cell phone or other electronic devices, these gloves form a conductive enclosure and effectively shield electric fields. Soft, light weight, with ribbed cuff, and offering good tactile sensitivity. Stretchy, so one size fits all, in basic gray color, each glove has a snap for a ground cord. Fully washable and tested for 50 cycles with no appreciable loss of conductivity. All fibers are conductive, achieving resistivity of less than 103 ohm/sq. Supplied with one 10-foot coiled ground cord with snap on one end and a banana plug/alligator clip on the other end. These gloves are also used in industry for static control when working with delicate static sensitive components. Grounding is not necessary for Faraday Cage shielding effect, but is necessary for static control. Try it both with and without ground cord and use whichever method works best for you. You know what happens when we ass-u-me? Electric sockets can be bad for a number of reasons: a wire can short or fray, a wire can become disconnected, or corrode at the contact, or the wires can be connected to the wrong contact altogether! These problems can be a fire hazard, a shock hazard, a problem for polarized appliances, and definitely a problem if you are using the socket’s ground connection to Earth your shielding.
Nickel, Copper and Cobalt coated nylon ripstop fabric (with anti-fray) offers excellent RF shielding properties (70 dB at 1 MHz, 100 dB at 1 GHz) and electrical conductivity (surface resistivity of less than 0.1 Ohms/sq). Use it so seal gaps, seams, and edges of shielding fabrics, paints or plastics. Also can be used to create conductive pathways on surfaces or add shielding to cables and flexible conduits. Cuts easily with scissors. Extremely corrosion and tear resistant, -10 to 80°C. Only 0.005 inch thick. 1 inch wide, 25 feet per roll with paper release liner.
